THE members of Saltcoats Active Lifestyle Team, SALT, spoke about their vision for Winton Circus Play Park at a community meeting.
The SALT team was talking at an online meeting of the Three Towns Locality Partnership last Wednesday, September 15.
The members told the community representatives from across Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston about their hope for the existing swing park next to Oscar’s Restaurant to be give a makeover.
They were told last week that they would be given the funding from a North Ayrshire Council pot of £500,000 allocated only for play park provision in Ayrshire.
Donna McGregor, chairperson, and David Stone, treasurer, outlined the group’s proposals for the play park, using colourful before and after diagrams.
Councillor Jean McClung, who introduced SALT to the meeting, said: “I was immensely proud of Donna and David whose presentation was a resounding success and was very well received by all in attendance.
“The group’s commitment and determination to see their dreams come to fruition were evident to everyone at the meeting.
“I did tell Donna afterwards that I felt like a proud parent at a prize-giving ceremony.”
Donna said: “We were happy to talk to the members of the Locality Partnership – a wee bit nervous but we wanted to share our ideas for the park with the people who were attending.
“The community has been a huge support and we want to thank everyone who is backing us.”
