The recycling centre at Bartonholm will be temporarily closed for two days next week to allow for resurfacing works at Sandy Road.

The roadworks will take place next week on Sandy Road between the A78 trunk road and Bartonholm Gardens north junction.

A two-day closure of Irvine’s Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) is needed on Wednesday 29 and Thursday, September 30 as works are undertaken to the entry/exit road to the facility.

To keep disruption to a minimum, traffic management will be brought in to allow some access to the recycling centre on Monday 27 and Tuesday, September 28.

However, the Council is asking those who need to visit the centre on Monday 27 and Tuesday, September 28 to plan their journey to allow for additional time due to the traffic management arrangements.

All other recycling centres – in Kilbirnie, Largs and Brodick – will remain open as normal.

During the two-day closure, HWRC staff will take part in essential training as well as supporting colleagues at the Council’s other recycling centres.

Councillor Jim Montgomerie, Cabinet Member for Green New Deal and Sustainability, said: “The two-day closure of our Bartonholm recycling centre is necessary to allow for important resurfacing works to the road leading to and directly outside of the site.

“We have arranged the works so that disruption is kept to a minimum by incorporating traffic management so that access to the recycling centre will be possible during the start of the works.

“The two-day closure towards the end of the works is necessary as at this stage, the road directly in front of the recycling centre, including the entry/exit to the site, will form part of the works.”
