Petrol station panic buying amid shortages dominated the headlines over the weekend, resulting in many people across Ayrshire going out to fill their tanks - at the same time.
Petrol station employees said it was the worst they have seen from Friday night onwards, with many people choosing to join a queue and fill up just in case. One cashier said "It has been absolute mayhem, I have never seen anything like it. It is really silly."
As queues at Tesco and Asda snaked onto the main road, traffic jams formed as customers tried to top up their vehicles so they had enough fuel after work.
One taxi driver at the Ayr rank on Saturday night said: "Many of the other guys have already gone home, I have half a tank left and I will carry on until I run out but there is no chance of topping up on this shift."
However, this morning was a different story.
Driving from Ayr to Ardrossan, all but one petrol station visited had fuel in all of its pumps. Queues were also at their minimum. Pump panic had receded and people were able to fill their vehicles in an orderly fashion.
Speaking to one cashier, he said: "They were filled up overnight and we've had zero problems today."
So was it just a weekend blip? What 'fuelled' the panic? And have you been affected by this weekend's petrol crisis?
