MOUNDS of grass are set to stay at South Beach this winter to help cope with high tides hitting the shoreline.
Councillor Jim Montgomerie has been following the vegetation of the beach since earlier this year.
“In terms of the vegetation, the council has removed the unsightly dock weed but otherwise it’s been left as it is,” said Jim.
“We ran social media polls and most people voted that the grass be left as it was with only a small number asking for it to be removed.
“During the upcoming winter high tide we expect much of the growth to naturally die, the aim is that this will kills the weeds but the Marram Grass should remain.”
