A TEAM of Dalry bowlers and Dalry Union Curlers raised £1,700 for two Ayrshire charities at a golf tournament at Caldwell.

The event, organised by bowler Cyril McBride, seen here in the centre of the cheque, saw the teams take part in the charity tournament.

And on Saturday at the bowling club’s closing day, the bowlers presented the cheques to the Ayrshire Hospice and The Renal Unit at Crosshouse Hospital.

Cyril said: “I would like to thank everyone who sponsored the event and the holes around the Caldwell course.

“I would also like to thank all of the businesses and local golf courses who sponsored the Four Ball Vouchers for auctioning, raffling and winner prizes too.

“Particular thanks to Stalker Butchers, Sharon’s Hairdressing, McInnes Papershop, Shorts the Bakers, Andy Reid and Gareth Wilson of Wilson’s Auctions who all contributed to the day and helped make it such a big success.”

A total of 30 bowlers and curlers made up eight teams on the day and the game was played over a Texas Scramble better ball stapleford format.

Three teams came equal first but on a better inward half the winning team was John Baxter, William Michie, Craig Duff and Drew Gemmell.

And they are now busy planning next year’s event.
