Football legends from Ardrossan and Belfast will play in a charity football match this Sunday [October 17] to raise money for mental health and a new wheelchair as part of their fundraising efforts.

The Butterfly Club Challenge Trophy football match will see Winton Rovers Legends face Belfast team Glentoran FC Legends at Winton's grounds.

Kicking off at 1pm, the event will raise money to split two causes; The Butterfly Club to help a young person who is in need of a new power pack for their wheelchair, and Beautiful Inside & Out charity, which provides assistance and support to those with mental health issues and also aids suicide prevention.

Persimmon Homes West Scotland is the headline sponsor of the Butterfly Club Challenge Trophy football match. Thanks to generous funding from the Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme, organisers were able to stage the event.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald:

Derek Cook, on behalf of Persimmon Homes told the Herald: “This year we are planning to help two causes; a young person who is in need of a new wheelchair power pack and the Beautiful Inside & Out charity, which provides assistance and support to those with mental health issues and also aids suicide prevention."

The kick-off will be at 1pm, with live music from The Best Bad Influence at 2.30pm and a youth tournament taking place earlier from 10am.
