Dalry Old Folks Treat Committee has confirmed that their Christmas lunch is back on the menu after last year’s was cancelled due to Covid.

The organisation dates back to the 1920s and it is believed this was the first time that the group had to cancel the Christmas Lunch for the over 65s from Dalry Parish in living memory.

The event will take place at Seamill Hydro on Monday, December 6.

Previously called “A Pleasant Sunday Afternoon’’ the group became The Dalry Old Folks Treat Committee in 1946.

While the committee members have various districts where they visit known pensioners prior to the Christmas Lunch and a summer outing with High Tea being provided in July there are many people who are not on their list.

This is due in part to Data Protection Regulations.

If there is anyone living in Dalry Parish over the age of 65 who has never been visited by a committee member you would like to attend any of the events they should contact the secretary on 01294 832464 who will pass their details to the relevant committee member.

All residents over the age of 90 that the group is aware of, will receive a monetary gift at Christmas.
