A 11-year-old girl has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was knocked down by a van outside Ardrossan Academy this morning.

The incident happened at 8.45am on Monday, November 1, when the pupil was walking to school.

Several ambulances were seen in attendance near the Jet garage, on Parkhouse Road.
