YOUNG gymnast Kieran Walker has landed a three year sponsorship deal with Cunninghame Housing Association as he prepares to compete with Team GB at the European Championships.
Kieran, from Dalry, has been a gymnast for over 10 years, currently training three times a week after school at Inverclyde in Largs as well as taking part in many competitions at home and abroad.
He has been selected to join Team GB for this year’s European Championships which are being held in Portugal from December 15.
The funding will enable Kieran to attend the championships and be part of Team GB, covering all of the costs involved, from travel to accommodation.
The sponsorship will assist with future costs, taking away some of the financial burden, whilst allowing Kieran to achieve his goals and enjoy something that he loves to do.
John Kelly, Chairperson of CHA, said: “The Association are delighted to support Kieran in attending the European Championships in Portugal and we wish him and Team GB the best of luck.”
Brian Walker, Kieran’s father, added: “The support the CHA Board of Management has given Kieran over the next three years is amazing and will help greatly.
“Kieran had a great experience at the British Championships held in Stoke-on-Trent in October. He is focused on training and preparation for European Championships in Portugal.
"Next year is going to be an exciting time with Covid restrictions lifting and more travel and competitions being planned”.
The funding came from the Association’s Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund. Those interested in finding out more about the fund can can visit http://cunninghame-housing.org.
