A former Three Towns care home will become the site of a national drug rehab facility - if plans are approved.
The Herald can reveal that the former Seabank care home will be the site of the new national drug rehabilitation facility destined for Saltcoats.
Planning permission has been lodged to North Ayrshire Council by drug rehab provider Phoenix Futures, who is the Scottish Government's chosen provider for the facility.
The proposals for the rehab centre were announced in August as part of the Scottish Government’s response to the rising drug death crisis.
It came days after it was revealed that Scotland had another record total of drug deaths in 2020, with 1,339 deaths.
The Scottish Government also previously confirmed that Saltcoats would be the chosen location of the new rehab facility, which will have space for 20 families.
The Scottish Government and Phoenix Futures have been approached for comment.
