Two men have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm after English and Scottish cops were called out to Stevenston.

A 35 and 24-year-old man have been held in custody after their arrest today [November 19].

A spokesperson for the English force said: "Officers have attended an area in Ardeer today, November 19, to conduct enquiries in relation to an ongoing investigation.

"A 24-year-old man and a 35-year-old man, both from Ayrshire, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

"They both remain in custody at this time.

"This comes after we were called at 2.54am on Thursday, November 4 following reports that a group of men had damaged buildings and vehicles at Carousel Park, Micheldever.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers have attended two locations in Stevenston, North Ayrshire on Friday, 19 November to assist another police service with an ongoing investigation.

“There was no ongoing incident and no risk to the wider public.”
