A house in Saltcoats has been vandalised with a slur about a 'bent cop', sparking a police probe.
The graffiti appeared at an address on Wheatley Road over the weekend and efforts are being made to clean it up this afternoon [Monday, November 22].
The writing on the wall says '... is a bent corrupt copper. (bribable) with cash and drugs' in bright red paint.
The name has been blocked out for legal reasons.
However, Police Scotland confirmed to the Herald that nobody with the name written on the wall works for the force.
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "We can confirm that officers have received a report of vandalism to a property in the Wheatley Road area of Saltcoats. Inquiries into the matter are at an early stage."
North Ayrshire Council, which co-ordinates teams to clean up graffiti in the area, has been approached for comment.
