A North Ayrshire councillor who left the SNP to defect to Alba has left Alex Salmond's party.
The Herald understands that Ellen McMaster, a councillor for Arran and Ardrossan, is now registered as Independent as of November 9 according to election records on the North Ayrshire Council website.

McMaster joined the SNP night before the 2014 referendum and revealed she has left to join the Alba Party back in March this year.
A spokesperson from the Alba party said: "We understand that Cllr McMaster wishes to serve the Isle of Arran and Ardrossan as an independent Councillor. We thank her for service as an Alba candidate in the past and wish her well for the future”
Cllr McMaster has been approached for comment.
