A YOUNG Ardrossan young football team have been awarded a four-figure sum by a local housing association.
Cunninghame Housing Association (CHA) presented a cheque for £1,000 to Ardrossan Winton Rovers 2009’s along with their coach, Stuart Griffiths.
The aim of the young football team, which is a development club for youngsters born in 2019, is to encourage good
fitness habits, healthy eating and to promote
their confidence, skills
and team working attitudes.
The young players enjoy twice weekly training sessions and compete in the North Ayrshire Soccer Association League with weekly games against other clubs.
Brenda Johnstone, board member of CHA said: “I was delighted and honoured to present the cheque on behalf of Cunninghame Housing Association to Ardrossan Winton Rovers 2009’s.
“A very worthwhile local cause with their commitment and enthusiasm whilst encouraging and developing many life skills in the young players.
“Wishing them all the best for future games in the North Ayrshire Soccer Association League”.
The funds provided will enable the team to purchase new away game match strips and light rain jackets for training and match play.
Coach Griffiths commented: “We greatly appreciate all the help we have received over the years from Cunninghame Housing Association and without this support we wouldn’t be developing as well as a local youth football team.”
