The West Kilbride community came together to pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday.

The huge crowd gathered at the war memorial, on the corner of Yerton Brae and Bowfield Road, to commemorate the first official Remembrance Sunday service since the Covid pandemic struck.

West Kilbride Cllr Todd Ferguson said: “Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity for the community to come together and remember the young men of our village who have paid the ultimate sacrifice during conflict.

“It is crucial that we come together as a community to remember their names.

Almost one-hundred-years to the day since the memorial was unveiled, it is vitally important that we continue to pay our respects for the next hundred years.

“That is why it was wonderful to see so many young people in attendance.

"They are our future, and it will be up to them to ensure that the flame of Remembrance is carried forward.

“Finally, I would like to thank Flowers By Aileen for preparing such a gorgeous centenary wreath.

"The staff and students from West Kilbride Primary for laying the wreath on behalf of the entire village.

"The Boys and Girls Brigade, the Minister, the Royal British Legion, Police Scotland, Community groups, and everyone who came to pay their respects.

"Lest We Forget.”
