Young Three Towns football stars were thrilled to be presented with prizes from a living legend from Ayrshire and Scotland’s only World Cup winner Rose Reilly.

TASS Girls Development Group enjoyed their Presentation and Party for 2021 this week – after all the girls enjoyed their last club day of the year before the Christmas holidays.

And it was an extra special night for the girls with their accolades for the U7s, U9s, U11s and U13s squads handed out by Ayrshire football legend Rose Reilly MBE.

The Ayrshire footballer, barred from playing for Scotland, instead represented Italy and won the World Cup.

The then 17-year-old Reilly left Ayrshire to follow her dreams, starting off with Reims in France, winning a league title, before moving to AC Milan.

During her time in Italy, Reilly won eight Serie A titles, four Italian Cups and twice won the Golden Boot.

A huge hit, she was asked by the country’s president to play for the national team.

She won the 1984 Women’s World Cup with her adopted country, scoring in the final, was named female world footballer of the year, and became a household name in Italy.

A TASS Girls Development Group spokesperson said: “Thank you to the incredible Rose Reilly MBE for presenting our awards and medals.”

They added: “Our last Club Day of 2021 saw the girls work hard, improving skills and showing great teamwork! Well done U13s, U11s, U9s and U7s!

“Thanks to our partner Coerver Coaching Scotland and we look forward to working together in 2022!”
