Ardrossan Winton Rovers have unveiled their new management team after it was announced they would be taking over last week.

Gavin Friels will take charge of the side along with his assistant Chris McGowan, who he previously worked with at Dalry Thistle.

On what he wants to bring to the side, Friels said: “I’m just hoping to bring a bit of enthusiasm into the squad and get a bit of feel-good factor between the players, the committee and the manager.

“Two home games to start with, I’m hoping to get positive results out both of them and then build on that for the next one.”

Friels left his role at Kilwinning Rangers to take the job, having previously spent eight years at Dalry, three of which he was assisted by McGowan.

He guided Dalry to a high of sixth place in the old Junior Championship and believes Ardrossan have the potential to go even further.

He said: “No slight on Dalry, but the chance of getting to that next stage with them wasn’t quite there, just with the structure of the club.

“That’s why we’ve came here, the facilities, the committee, everything’s in place for us to take us to the level we were at before (with Dalry) and then take it to the next stage.

“Obviously we’ve got a very long way to go here, we’re sitting twelfth in the conference, the target area for us (this season) would probably be eighth, ninth, anything above that would be a bonus.”
