Ardrossan Winton Rovers manager Gavin Friels insists his focus is one game at a time as he prepares for his first game as Winton boss.

Friels was appointed Winton boss a fortnight ago, leaving his assistant manager role at Kilwinning Rangers to join the club.

Also joining him at Winton Park was Whitletts Victoria defender Chris McGowan, who comes in as assistant boss to Friels.

The duo will take charge of their first game for Rovers this weekend as they host Glasgow Perthshire at Winton Park for a West of Scotland Football League Conference C clash.

Speaking to the Herald, Friels said:”We have got two home games coming up, that is the first two.

“I have not not looked any further than the first home game this Saturday against Glasgow Perthshire.

“We will have full concentration on that.

“The plan on the lead up to it, is that we will meet up with the players on Monday to see who is available for us.

“We will train on the Wednesday and then we will fully concentrate on the game in hand.

“I think the players are lacking a bit of confidence as results have not not been going for them.

“Although they have been in games, they have lost goals late on.

“So, they are nearly there I think if we can just turn the corner with them.

“If we get the full squad available then I think we have a good chance of going and getting a good run in towards the end of the season .”
