New Year always provides inspiration for many to take on new challenges and 2022 is no different.
One such popular resolution is ‘Veganuary’ - trying to eat vegan for the month of January.
If anyone is taking on the challenge this year, Ayrshire has some excellent options on offer for extending your animal-free pallet.
Moka, Ardrossan
The newest cafe to the scene is Moka, on Ardrossan’s Princess Street.
The vegetarian and plant based cafe is dog friendly, and open seven days a week from 9am to 4pm.
Despite its short time open it has received rave reviews, just remember to ask if your choice of meal is vegan or vegetarian!
Vegan Earth, Ayr
Situated on Ayr’s Kyle Street, Vegan Earth is considered “Ayrshire’s first and only 100 per cent vegan cafe”.
Open only four days per week, 12pm-4pm Wednesday and Thursday, with an earlier opening time of 10am on Friday and Saturday, there’s no need to ask if it’s vegan, according to the cafe, absolutely everything is.
GRO, Irvine and Ayr
While not exclusively vegan or vegetarian, GRO, and its organic philosophy add some fine dining flair with its vegan alternative options.
With two sites, one on Irvine’s harbour, open 9am-10pm everyday and another just off Ayr’s Whitletts Roundabout, open 8am-10pm daily, the organic cafe/restaurant has plenty to offer.
Their menu’s vegan box allows customers to customise the menu to their meat free taste. It’s available on their daytime menu, which runs from opening until 4pm.
While their evening dining, from 4pm-9pm, offers a range of pizzas and burgers where vegan alternatives are once again on offer.
