A VETERANS’ club for motorcyclists as well as serving service personal has now set up its base in the Three Towns after recent attendance at Remembrance.

Legion members expressed their delight as the Brothers in Arms MCC – a Scottish-wide motorcycle group comprising of Veterans and serving military personnel – has set-up its headquarters in Stevenston.

The group, whose clubhouse is based at Ardeer industrial estate, previously did a ride past prior to the start of November’s Remembrance Parade then joined us for the Act of Remembrance at Saltcoats Memorial

The Royal British Legion Scotland (RBLS) Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenston Branch and the Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club (AFVBC) Saltcoats would also like to wish a Happy New Year to all in the Three Towns and wider community of North Ayrshire.

President Paul Coffey said: “2021 was a busy year for us, ensuring our members and families stayed safe whilst helping out in the local neighbourhood where we could.

"We responded to requests for assistance from outside agencies regarding veterans’ welfare, both physical and mental.

"This has sadly included helping families with the death of a veteran.

"There have been numerous positive outcomes from our projects throughout the year and we are very grateful for the support shown and given by members of the public, other groups, funding bodies and the council.

“2022 is looking to be even busier with planned work moving forward on the Three Towns War Memorials, which we are striving to finish in time for our main remembrance commemorations.

"In addition to the Legion’s customary annual services and parades there will be events and commemorations associated with the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands War, the 100th Anniversary of the unveiling and dedication of the Saltcoats War Memorial, plus we will be supporting the community with the Queens 70th Jubilee Celebrations.

"All this alongside keeping our veterans, families and carers safe.”

If you are a veteran and can still handle the banter, please join AFVBC at the Melbourne Café in Saltcoats every Monday morning from 9am – 11 am.
