ARRAN Botanical Drinks has confirmed exciting plans which has seen change-of-use planning permission granted for their popular Cladach beach bar.

The bar provides the perfect setting for the range of activities it offers, including bespoke ‘ladies nights’, cocktail masterclasses, drink tasting sessions and private functions.

Given the increased demand for ‘staycations’ throughout the pandemic, Arran Botanicals felt this next step was necessary, as they expect demand to grow.

They hope this permission for change of use will allow for a growing number of activities to be offered, while encompassing other elements from fellow businesses from other trades - such as hospitality.

Stuart Fraser, managing director at Arran Botanical Drinks, explained: “As we saw last year, even with the restrictions, there was a surge of ‘staycation’ traffic coming to Cladach Beach to enjoy a tour/tasting or cocktail.

“We think this year will be even busier, and we want to ensure we maximise the space and the experience. We will be running an exciting range of food and entertainment pop-ups and curating private parties and celebrations both inside and at the beach bar. Roll-on the summer!

“We now have the ability to add some space to grow our botanical drinks production; and can develop new ‘experiences’ such as cocktail classes, foodie partnerships, and developing the rustic beach-bar space.

“The view and outdoor area is paramount to our operation, and Covid has taught everyone how to ‘lean-in’ to the variable Scottish weather. For many, this fun little beach space rivals anything in the Med - perhaps not as warm - but definitely as nice!

“Essentially, we’re offering an escape and adventure - something I think we all need and deserve these days.”

The company have also announced a collaboration with neighbouring island gins Bute and Cumbrae to produce a three-pack of 20cl bottles celebrating all three Clyde Island Gins.
