North Ayrshire Council’s Three Towns Locality Team pulled out all the stops with their recent ‘what’s on for over 50s’ event.

It was a roaring success with more than 60 people in attendance.

Local groups recruited new members and passed information to people who did not know about them.

Gavin Ferguson, a community worker for Connected Communities within the Three Towns Locality Team, was extremely pleased to see the response to the event.

He said: “It was a lovely experience seeing so many people sitting together and chatting again, we basically had to kick people out at the end!”

Gavin added: “It’s all part of supporting the community’s recovery.”

The event also saw the team begin to recruit for a new Three Towns senior forum, which is about getting people together in a way that they can campaign for senior and elderly peoples rights and needs.

For anyone who missed out, Gavin commented: “We’ll probably do another one of these events, later in the year, after summer when all the groups restart, but I think people are starting to come back out and feel safe.”

Gavin added: “If groups want to promote themselves then get in touch and we’ll put it in our Facebook group. We’re here to help groups recover and rebuild.”
