DALRY Burns Club (DBC) members are set to vote on whether to allow women to join the club at their annual AGM on March 31.

DBC have been in existence since 1825 and currently do not allow women to join as members.

A proposal has been put forward to allow women to join the club and the vote will take place on the last Thursday of this month.

A source has told the Herald that allegedly a majority of members are against this and they are doubtful the proposal will pass, though there are a number of members who wish for women to join.

Women members would not only bolster numbers when throughout Ayrshire they have been dropping but would bring some ideas and poetical/musical talent into the club.

More to follow after the vote.
