A NORTH Ayrshire group has received funding for the next three years to support its work with people with disabilities.

The National Lottery Community Fund has provided the financial backing for the North Ayrshire Forum on Disability (NAFOD) group’s Access Ability Project, which has been running for more than a decade.

The Forum, formed in 1996, has enabled local disability groups to have more input to local policies and to look at the needs of people with disabilities in the community.

A spokesperson said: “Working alongside the staff, we will continue to provide information, advice, one-to-one support, signposting to other supportive agencies and the facilitation of NAFOD group work at our accessible base in Saltcoats.

“With this funding, we hope that now Covid restrictions have been lifted, our groups can come together once more, for fun and friendship in a supported environment.”

The National Lottery Community Fund’s Scotland chair, Kate Still, said: “This project is a great example of community activity in action, showing just what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause or to help others."
