SEAHORSE Bookstore has some special events coming up over the next few months.

The popular shop, which is situated on Harbour Street, will welcome Sci-Fi author Ben Oliver to its shop in April, before hosting a workshop for writers over May and June.

Dystopian author Ben Oliver will visit the store on Saturday, April 30 at 4pm to promote his series The Loop and to sign books.

Oliver featured in popular Entertainment Weekly, and the trilogy has been optioned for TV production. Louise Sutton, Emmy Award-winning producer of Black Mirror, calls it “a gripping story.”

Oliver will be releasing The Arc, the last book of the trilogy, in July. Entertainment Weekly calls the trilogy “YA (Young Adult’s) next blockbuster.” The bookstore is also collaborating with Triple Acts Theatre to give a Writing For Wellbeing Workshop on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm, from May 4 to June 8.

The Writing for Wellbeing Workshop is part of a line-up of events taking place all over Scotland as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival.

This year, the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival invites people to explore what it means to ‘Gather’.

This festival will celebrate the opportunity to bring the SMHAF community back together after two years of long distance, and explores how people can gather in a more inclusive way.

There are more than 200 events taking place throughout Scotland and online, curated by the team at @MentalHealthFoundation / @MHFScot, local communities, artists and activists.

A Seahorse spokesperson said: “Seahorse Bookstore is excited to take part in the festival and to bring an opportunity to gather and to explore new ways of wellbeing to the community.

“We would love to invite writers at any and every level to join the class.”
