The Dalry and District Scottish Women’s Institute (SWI) has recently benefitted from a donation of £400 thanks to the Dalry Parish Boundary Trust.
The money was granted through Community Windpower’s Millour Hill wind farm community benefit fund.
Dalry and District SWI, formerly known as ‘the Rural’, was established in 1964, and has always enjoyed a healthy membership.
President Mary Smith said: “Like many organisations, the past two years have been difficult for us, although we kept in touch with members via newsletters during that time.
“The start of our current session was delayed until November, and sadly our membership has dropped a bit.
“In an effort to adapt to changing times, we have moved to afternoon meetings, and hope to attract old and new members in our new session, and grow our membership.
“The grant from Dalry Parish Boundary Trust will help a great deal in allowing us to have interesting speakers and crafters – our members particularly enjoy hands-on meetings and trying out new skills.
“We are very grateful to the Trust for their continued support.”
