Subway sandwich shop in Dockhead Street, Saltcoats, is to re-open tomorrow (May 14) following a refurbishment.

The store was purchased by Sandeep Dhaliwal, who also owns the franchise's Kilwinning store, six months ago, and he decided the shop needed a new lease of life.

Staff and construction workers are still working away in the town centre shop today, May 13, to ensure work is completed for tomorrow's re-opening.

The shop first opened around 15 years ago, only ten years after the American franchise made its first moves into the UK.

Little has changed since then, however, both inside and outside the store have now been completely revamped, bringing an injection of life into the tired building.

The indoor space has also been slightly extended as part of the development.

One of the staff members at the shop, Colin Lundy, spoke to the Herald about the refurb.

He said: "We are just trying to bring a wee bit of regeneration into the town.

"There is someone out there who cares about Saltcoats, they're trying to put a bit of life back into the place.

"Even down to the front of the shop, it'll have a nice new look, metalwork, windows and a new front door, and the inside is all new decor."
