Residents of Beith have the opportunity to take part in events marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next month.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will become the first British monarch to celebrate 70 years on the throne on June 2.
To commemorate the milestone, Beith Cultural and Heritage Society will launch a “Remembering the 1950s” exhibition on Friday June 3 at Beith Townhouse. This nostalgic exhibition will reflect on the big events that happened during this time and showcase day to day life.
Locals who have toys, games or household items from 70 years ago that they would be willing to lend for display are encouraged to get in touch with the society by popping into the Townhouse or emailing: beithtownhouse@gmail.com.
Following this, on Saturday June 4 there will be a Jubilee tea and plant sale at the townhouse between 11am and 3pm where this slice of history will be celebrated with some cake and sandwiches.
