A THREE Towns man allegedly assaulted another gentleman at a Saltcoats supermarket while out on bail and awaiting a return to court.

Michael John Lawrie, 29, pleaded not guilty to having acted aggressively towards the man while repeatedly shouting and swearing at Tesco, High Road, Saltcoats, back on July 16, 2020.

It’s alleged Mr Lawrie, of Misk Knowes, Stevenston, also assaulted him by repeatedly attempting to punch him and repeatedly seizing him on the body.

The complaint states the offences were carried out on bail granted and subject to an undertaking to appear in court on other matters.

When Mr Lawrie appeared in court on May 11 his defence solicitor said he pleaded not guilty to the charges and they were content to go to trial with no special defences.

The Procurator Fiscal told the court there were four civilian witnesses cited by the Crown as well as two police officers.

Bail was continued and Mr Lawrie will return to court at a later date.
