FOUR OF Ayr Storms under 16 women’s players capped off an already outstanding season by representing their national side in a four nations tournament in Dundee.

Marr College’s Louise Fisher, Belmont Academy’s Brooke Beveridge and Prestwick Academy duo, Alix McIntosh and Lauren Cooper all played key roles for their country over the course of the weekend’s games.

The girls headed to the national camp fresh from helping their club side to a Scottish cup victory - the club’s first ever national title, in what was also their first national final appearance!

This four nations tournament saw them face off against Wales, England and Ireland to compete for the cup.

They started off the weekend’s action with a convincing 88-38 blowout win against Wales, with all four of the Ayrshire side’s players finding themselves amongst the points.

In what was certainly the match of the weekend, their second fixture saw them come up against rivals England.

Despite leading by six points at one stage in the third quarter, the Scots could not hold on as England came back to claim the win 66-51.

Their final fixture saw them come up against the Irish - who would go onto win the tournament.

They showed exactly why they are champions and despite the Scottish side holding a lead at one point in the second quarter, they would eventually succumb to a 66-38 loss.

Ayr’s under 16 captain, and now Scotland cap Alix McIntosh said: “It was an amazing experience playing against such good opposition in a competitive environment with my three Storm team mates. I’m so proud of all of us for representing Scotland.”

While beaming trustee and club coach Alan Nisbet added: “It was great to see four girls from Ayr Storm representing their country in the same team. Everyone at the club is so immensely proud of them.”

Looking off the court, a club spokesperson continued: “They represented their club and families with the utmost class during the Four Nations tournament in Dundee. Great role models for our youngsters at the club, to show what hard work and dedication to your sport can help you achieve.”
