A STEVENSTON ice hockey star, who funds much of his own career, has benefited from a £1,000 donation courtesy of Cunninghame Housing Association (CHA).

Liam Anderson has been playing ice hockey since the age of five and is based in Harvies in Stevenston.

He currently plays his hockey for North Ayrshire Wild who play in the Scottish National League which takes him the length and breadth of the country.

Liam says that he thrives playing for his local ice hockey team, and that it greatly benefits his mental wellbeing as well as his physical health - something that has been particularly prominent over these Covid-affected years.

The funding provided by CHA will assist Liam with the ever-rising costs associated with ice hockey such as insurance cover, registration and competition fees as well as equipment.

The funding for Liam came from the association’s Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund, which operates throughout the year until the allocated funding is exhausted.
