AN AYRSHIRE mum hit a police officer with a glass bottle during a Rangers title party in the centre of Glasgow last year.

Stephanie Donaldson, 30, from Ayr, hurled the missile at an unknown officer who formed part of a cordon in Glasgow city centre's George Square on May 15, 2021.

Hundreds of jubilant Gers fans had gathered earlier that day to celebrate the club's Scottish Premiership title win.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that an order for dispersal had been made at 8.40pm, which had also been posted on social media.

CCTV was gathered after the event and the footage was reviewed by police.

Prosecutor Laura Bradley said: "Donaldson was shown throwing a glass bottle at a police officer.

"It smashed as the bottle hit the police officer's helmet."

Donaldson was caught after police received anonymous information that she was responsible.

The mum-of-four was eventually cautioned and charged.

She pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a charge of culpable and reckless conduct.

Sheriff Iain Fleming deferred sentence until next month pending background reports.

He told Donaldson: "You should not construe that the fact you have been granted bail [means] that you will avoid a custodial sentence."
