PLANS for the latest phase of house building at a Saltcoats development site have been revealed.

Persimmon Homes is proposing 99 new houses at the Sharphill site in the third phase of development by the firm following the adjacent Clyde Shores and Arran View construction work.

A range of two-four bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached homes would be built with 14 different house types being proposed.

A supporting statement submitted with the recent application for planning permission to North Ayrshire Council said: “The proposed site is allocated in the adopted North Ayrshire Local Development Plan as a ‘housing site’ and falls within the ‘West of Sharphill’ allocation which has an indicative capacity of 200 units.

“Our current proposal will make up 99 units of the total allocation leaving a remaining capacity of 101 units on further allocated land to the west of the site.

“Therefore the principle of residential development on the site has been established and accords with North Ayrshire Council’s aspirations for this area.”

The latest site is currently vacant and was previously used as an agricultural field.

The application added: “The proposed house types are in keeping with the existing housing being built within Sharphill.

“The range of homes proposed will ensure that there is a home for everyone’s budget and position on the housing ladder.”

All of the proposed new homes would incorporate solar panels, while the developers said their aims are to create a desirable place to live, create an attractive development, contribute towards the housing shortfall in the local housing market area, be accessible for all, and be financially viable.
