AN ARDROSSAN Academy reunion, with a slight twist, is to be held in the town next month.

Unlike a typical get-together, this event is welcoming anyone who attended the school between the years 1978 and 1982.

The clever plan to include several years of the school has been devised as one former pupil, and her husband, have returned home from Australia.

By including multiple years of former pupils, this will allow for both of the pair to reconnect with former classmates while they are back home in North Ayrshire.

The event has been organised for July 29, taking place at the Ardrossan Outdoor Bowling Club.

It will take place from 7pm until late, with tickets costing £10 per person, with all proceeds from the event set to be donated to the Ayrshire Hospice.

The event will feature all the usual fun of a reunion, with food, drinks, games, raffles and live music being put on.

The band playing at the event will also feature many former pupils of the school.

Anyone wishing to attend the event, or find out more, can contact one of the organisers, Paula Fisher on 07779 992858.

The organisers have also set up a Facebook group for the reunion, which is available here.

Here, those who will be attending have already been reminiscing about past days, sharing photos and memories from their time at Ardrossan Academy.

A group spokesperson said: “Do the names Sweatman, Spock, Wiggy and Radar mean anything to you?

“Do you have flashbacks of blue leotards, dodging blackboard dusters, getting the belt?

“Were you one of Mrs Lang’s dancers, a hockey, rugby, football or netball player?

“Did you act your socks off in The Pirates of Penzance or the Mikado or play in the orchestra? Then you are the people we are looking for!”
