A MAN has died after an incident at Saltcoats harbour, say police.

Emergency services attended the area at lunchtime today (Monday).

Police said a 65-year-old man was taken from the water but died soon afterwards.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death.

Police and ambulance crews were observed at the scene of the incident at around 1.15pm.

One eyewitness claimed to have seen a person in diving equipment receiving medical attention at the harbour.

They said the man received medical attention at the scene before ambulance crews arrived and took over.

There appear to have been at least two Scottish Ambulance Service vehicles in the area, assisted by one police van.

It is also believed that other specialist crews were in attendance, including a diving team.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Saltcoats Harbour at 1.15pm on Monday June 27, 2022.

“A 65-year-old man was taken from the water but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
