A BOXER from Ardrossan has made history as she claimed her third consecutive title at the GB Three Nations Championship.

The 17-year-old splits her training between Irvine Vineburgh boxing club and Bridgeton where she is a member of the Scotland Elite boxing squad.

She became the first female fighter to achieve the feat in Barnsley, after unanimous judging decisions saw her overcome two English champions in the semi finals and final.

Competing in the youth 48kg event, she defeated Frances Coope in her final four bout, before earning her third title versus Madi Gittins.

Making her victory all the more impressive, Brooke suffered a cheekbone injury in sparring in the lead-up to the tournament.

This win adds to a growing list of accolades for Brooke, after the St Matthew’s Academy pupil also claimed a win in the Brasov Open boxing tournament in Romania earlier this year.

Speaking after the historic triumph, Brooke said: “It’s just amazing. Having your own country's vest on, it’s like an achievement in itself, but winning the gold, it’s just amazing.

“It’s a great atmosphere with all the team here, I can’t wait to see my other teammates win gold as well.”

Brooke added that she will be back again next year, as she looks to make it four in a row - and even more history.
