TWO Glencairn Primary School youngsters have earned awards from the Scottish Creative Awards Ceremony, held at Hampden Park, for their amazing projects.

The pair of P2 students created designs based on the ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ campaign.

The contest was entered by nearly 1,500 children from schools across the nation, so Jamie Russell and Aaron Roderickson did fantastically well to be selected as finalists for the ceremony at the national stadium.

This was also the first time any pupil from the Stevenston school had been selected at this stage of this particular competition.

In the competition itself, Aaron’s football design earned him a “highly recommended” award, while Jamie’s jumper earned her the overall winners prize for the P1-2 category.

Both pupils had a great day at the ceremony, as they got to tour around the home of the Scotland national football team.

They also got to meet former professional basketball player Kieron Achara MBE - who played for the Glasgow Rocks and has represented both Scotland and team GB.

The youngsters also learned even more about such an important issue which was highlighted in speeches given by the event organisers.

Judges at the contest also commended the “outstanding calibre” of entries into the competition this year.

The day was described as an “amazing experience” for the two young finalists, and everyone is “immensely proud” of Jamie and Aaron.
