THE development of a brand-new skatepark in Dalry has now been completed.
Situated opposite the multi-use games area at the town's public park, the skatepark forms part of wider regeneration works being undertaken by North Ayrshire Council at the popular outdoor site in an effort to enhance the town centre.
With more than 430 responses received during the consultation, the facility has been developed in partnership with the local community who helped decide on the style and location of the skatepark.
Construction got underway in March and the facility has now been completed in time for the summer holidays.
It includes several features, requested by the community, such as a half pipe, street area and rhythm section.
Councillor Tony Gurney, Cabinet member for economy and climate change, said: “We are delighted to see the completion of Dalry’s new skatepark.
"Not only does it provide a fun new addition to a great outdoor space, it also feeds into our wider regeneration work in the town to make it a more vibrant and attractive place for people of all ages and interests.
“The skatepark plays an important role in bringing a new group of people to the town which in turn will help to boost the local community and economy.
“We look forward to seeing the facility in full swing over the summer holidays.”
