NORTH Ayrshire drivers are being warned of nearly four weeks of roadworks which could affect motorists travelling between the area and Glasgow.

Overnight works on the dual carriageway section of the A737 in Renfrewshire - used by thousands of vehicles each day on journeys between the Garnock Valley and Glasgow Airport, Paisley, the city centre and elsewhere - will begin on Monday, July 4, and are due to last until Thursday, July 28.

Road maintenance company Amey is planning to upgrade illuminated signs in the area between 8pm and 6am each night.

Traffic management measures will range from single lane closures in some areas to complete closure with diversions in others.

Details of traffic management which will be in place during the work are as follows.

Traffic management will be in place at the following locations.

A737 eastbound from Linwood to St James interchange - lane closure.

 

A737 eastbound link to M8 eastbound - road closure. Traffic will be diverted via the St James interchange.

M8 St James off-slip to A737 westbound - road closure. Traffic will be diverted on to the A726 through Paisley via St James Street, Niddry Street, Mill Street, A761 Gordon Street, Canal Street and Linwood Road to rejoin the A737 at the Linwood Interchange.

A737 Linwood to M8 flyover - outside lane closure.

 

A737 westbound from Linwood to Johnstone - lane closure.

A737 westbound at Linwood off-slip - road closure. Diversion - continue on A737 westbound to Johnstone and return on A737 eastbound to leave at Linwood.

A737 westbound at Linwood on-slip - road closure. Diversion - follow A761 westbound to Bridge of Weir Road, then Barrochan Road southbound to rejoin A737 at Johnstone slips.

 

A737 eastbound off-slip to Linwood - road closure. Diversion - continue on A737 eastbound to St James Interchange and return on A737 westbound to leave at the Linwood westbound off-slip.

A737 eastbound at Linwood on-slip - lane closure.

A737 eastbound at Johnstone off-slip - road closure. Diversion - continue on A737 eastbound to Linwood offslip and return on A737 westbound to leave at Johnstone westbound offslip.

A737 eastbound at Johnstone off-slip - road closure. Diversion - join A737 westbound to Kilbarchan exit and rejoin on A737 eastbound.

Amey says that all the work is weather-dependent and that it "may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable".
