SCOTRAIL is urging music lovers from the Three Towns attending the upcoming Guns N' Roses concert and TRNSMT festival in Glasgow to plan their travel routes in advance due to the temporary reduced timetable in place.

On the reduced timetable, there are around two trains per hour from Irvine to Glasgow Central, with trains departing roughly at ten past and twenty to the hour and no trains out of the city after the festival closes at 11pm on Sunday.

A very limited number of trains will be running from the city centre after 11pm on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday night.

On all days except Sunday, the last train from Glasgow Central to the Ardrossan area will depart at 7.45pm from Glasgow Central.

Iconic band Guns N' Roses will take to the stage at Glasgow Green on Tuesday, whilst TRNSMT will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the same venue.

Gates for Tuesday’s concert will open at 4.30pm while TRNSMT’s gates will open at 11am each day, and neither event has a set finish time.

Phill Campbell, ScotRail’s head of customer operations, said: “We have another busy week of live music in Glasgow with Guns N’ Roses and then TRNSMT at Glasgow Green, and we’re urging customers travelling to the events to plan ahead, to check their entire journey, and to know their travel options.

“Due to the temporary timetable currently in place, there will be a very limited number of trains departing the city centre after Guns N’ Roses on Tuesday night, and on the Friday and Saturday of TRNSMT.”

ScotRail warns that space on trains is limited, but that no rail replacement buses will be offered for members of the public who cannot board their last trains home.

Mobile tickets can be bought in advance via the ScotRail app and this will allow passengers to secure their seats and avoid queues at ticket booths.

The advice follows travel congestion experienced after the Ed Sheeran concert at Hampden on June 16, which left many concertgoers - who opted to drive due to the lack of trains from nearby stations - stuck in traffic for hours.

Revellers are also reminded that carrying and consuming alcohol is prohibited on trains.

Mobile tickets and more information on train times can be found at Scotrail’s website.
