A 30-year-old man is due to appear in court today in connection with a disturbance in Irvine.
Cops swarmed part of Middleton Road, in the Girdle Toll area of the town, yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, July 12) in response to reports of an incident at around 3pm.
A 37-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he remains receiving treatment, while armed police arrested another male.
There was a large police presence in the area as the road remained closed to traffic.
A Police Scotland update, shared this morning (Wednesday), said: "Following a disturbance on Middleton Road in Irvine, the 30-year-old man who was arrested has now been charged and will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today (Wednesday, July 13, 2022).
"This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider public."
