A SALTCOATS couple are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary today (Wednesday).

Billy and Sheena Fisher have been together for just over 53 years and the happy pair are marking half a century of marriage with a special family meal.

Billy and Sheena first met in 1968 at “a wee upstairs room in the North Ayrshire Council building, where dancing was played on a record player”. They got married on July 14, 1972 in the North Parish Church.

A family member told the Herald: “They have three sons and two girls, all lovely, and they have nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

“The family all live locally and their grandchildren and great granddaughter, too, and they all visit regularly.

“They are delighted to have got to this anniversary, and they have stayed in their home on Saughtree Avenue for 42 years.”

They both like music, still, with Sheena being a big fan of The Beatles, and Billy a keen follower of The Killers.

Congratulations on reaching the milestone, from all at the Herald!
