A BAND from the Three Towns have reason to celebrate after they were shortlisted for a top national music award.

Voldo, who have members from Saltcoats, Stevenston and Ardrossan, have received a nomination for the Scottish Album of the Year 2022 award, for their recent work ‘Nostalgia Regalia’.

Consisting of Ardrossan producer Nunny Boy, vocalist Amanda Lorean, Kyle Meldrum from Saltcoats and guitarist Jimmy Skiffle from Stevenston, it’s been a tough couple of years for the band.

The band were keen to follow on from the success of their previous album ‘Sophia’ though like so many, their plans were derailed as the pandemic swept across the world.

Voldo didn’t let this stop them, however, and this latest album was in fact written, and recorded, throughout the Covid lockdown.

With the wonders of modern technology they managed to send each other song ideas and hooks to make the album possible.

Voldo say they are “absolutely delighted” to be nominated for this award again, after ‘Sophia’ was up for the accolade back in 2020.

Their music is available for streaming on all major platforms, though if you prefer CDs or downloads then you can visit their bandcamp page: nunnyboy.bandcamp.com/.
