WEST Kilbride AFC hosted a big family fun day last Sunday, at their home pitch in the village.

It was a well attended event, with plenty on offer for all ages.

There were plenty stalls, and of course, there was football on show, with a beat the goalie game, and the youngsters getting a chance to play in a fun tournament.

Last season's league winners also put their boots on, facing a side made up of some ‘old crocs’ from the club.

The club also revealed some new signage produced for their home park, in West Kilbride’s Glen.

Councillor for the North Coast, Todd Ferguson came down to the event, and was delighted to see how things turned out.

He said: “I was absolutely delighted to attend the event held down the Glen recently.

“West Kilbride AFC and the community went above and beyond to provide a top class day of entertainment for the children and young people.

“It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved and supporting Stuart and the team.

“The Glen has always been a special place to the community and it holds some incredible memories for me personally when I played for the Colts all those years ago.

“The desire has always been to breathe new life back into the Glen and now, with community groups, councillors, and West Kilbride AFC all coming together it is the perfect time to turn some of those dreams into a reality.

“Obviously, discussions are in the very early stages of development and there is a huge amount of work to be done, but the signs are positive.

“What is certain is that given the huge turnout at last week's footballing event if we are successful in delivering on the project then it will be a well used space that is open to the entire community and an asset for many years to come.”
