A MAN has been acquitted of historic sex abuse charges involving a young girl in Kilwinning.

Justin Graham, also known as Justin Beau Graham, had been accused of lewd, indecent and libidinous acts towards the youngster, as well as assault and attempted rape.

Mr Graham, 37, pleaded not guilty to the charges when his case called at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in February last year.

It had been alleged that he preyed on the girl between May 1 and June 30 in 1997, while she was aged around nine or 10, at an address in Stobbs Terrace, Kilwinning.

Mr Graham, whose address was previously listed as HMP Dumfries, faced a second charge of allegedly abusing the same girl – who was then aged between 13 and 14 – on another occasion in Pollock Crescent some time between May 11, 2000 and May 10, 2002.

He has now been cleared of both charges following a trial earlier this month.
