A BEITH man has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged drugs offences after police stopped his vehicle in the town on Friday.

Cops say the 22-year-old was pulled over "due to the manner of driving" and he was allegedly found to be in possession of 152g of cannabis and 14g of crack cocaine.

This lead to a subsequent search of a property in the town, where various other "items of drug paraphernalia" were also recovered.

Officers then arrested and charged the man before submitting their report under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A report was sent to the procurator fiscal and the man will now appear in court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland are committed to actively pursue those suspected of supplying controlled drugs.

"If you have any information about this or any type of organised crime, help us keep people safe by reporting it to Police Scotland on 101 - or contact CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
