A man suffered serious injuries after a 'violent and unprovoked attack' in Glasgow's East End.

The 39-year-old man was seriously assaulted by two other men on Carntyne Road, close to the junction with Greyfriars Street, around 6pm yesterday.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, with serious injuries.

Police officers have launched manhunt to identify the two suspects.

The first men is described as white, in his thirties, 5ft 6ins with a stocky build, grey hooded top and orange high-visibility work trousers.

The second man is described as white, in his thirties, 5ft 10ins, with skinny build, wearing all black clothing and work trousers.

They were seen running off towards Greyfriars Street.

Detective Sergeant Graham Clarke, of Greater Glasgow CID, said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack in broad daylight.

“This is a busy street with lots of shops. Think back were you in the area and did you see anything which may help us identify these men?

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are relying on members of the public to provide us with as much information as possible.
