Hundreds visited a vintage bus exhibition and community fun day in the East End today.

Organised by Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust at the Bridgeton Bus Garage, families could visit, get on and learn about vintage buses and parttake in activities.

The fun-filled day was the organisations's first event in three years and proved to be hugely successful.

Dozens of buses from the past were displayed, along with modern models, police cars, military vehicles, firetrucks and more.

Children could also participate in arts and craft programmes, listen to live music, travel on a bus to George Square, try on firefighter helmets, meet Star Wars characters and even blare the siren on a Police Scotland car.

The ribbon was cut by Dilawer Singh MBE, country's first Asian policeman and former Glasgow Corporation bus driver.

Guests Gail and Mike Mcglinchey, 44 and 54, travelled from Paisley to see the exhibition with their daughter, Grace.

Gail said: "It's been really good, kind of a trip down memory lane, seeing my old school bus and reliving a few memories.

"I have forgotten how cool the buses actually were.

"It's really nice to see them."

Mike added: "It's great to show my daughter the buses I used to take to school.

"She was trying to choose her own bus that she will be taking as well.

"She liked the red one."

James Peters, 39, from Bridgeton took his whole family to the event.

He said: "We liked the fire engines the best.

"Just came to look at the buses and the other vehicles.

"We initially came here because it's fun for my son to see them but my mum and dad enjoyed seeing the bubes they grew up with more."

Steven Booth, Chairperson of Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust, said: "What we try to do with these events is put on a whole different programmes that might appeal to families and the community, rather than just it being about buses and what they do.

"We also have an extra special guest here, Darth Vader and his garison of Storm Troopers. They arrives today to keep order and make sure nothing gets out of hand.

"There are also lots of fun things for the kids to get their hands on."
