KILWINNING’S Picnic in the Park family festival will be taking place in McGavin Park this week.

Coming to town tomorrow (Thursday, August 11) between 12pm and 5.30pm, attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of activities and shows such as try it sessions, live music, fairground rides, children’s entertainers, and a magician.

A play park, rides, and inflatables will be there for younger children up to age 11.

Older children will be able to enjoy fairground rides such as Twister and Miami, and activities such as bungee jumping trampolines.

Food and drink will also be available for visitors as the festival will offer burgers, donuts, pancakes, coffee, and an ice cream van.

A representative from Kilwinning Community Events said: “We’ve now got two giant assault courses for older kids and adults and they’re both included in the wristband deal.

“We are doing all that we can to give you choice and keep the costs low.

“Have a look at the event page and sign up now to keep up to date with all the stuff that’s still free.”

Tickets for the first session (12pm to 2pm), and second session (3pm to 5pm) cost £10 per person, but attendees can buy a £16 wristband that allows them to access the activities on offer all day.

Early bird wristbands are available online, but tickets can be bought on the day at £12 for the sessions and £18 for the whole day.

Attendees are encouraged not to park in residential areas as parking will be available at Kilwinning Academy and Abbey Primary with signs being put in place to direct drivers.
