A MAN tried to punch a cop and then bite another officer on the face.

Bodgan Matvejev, 47, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week following the incident shortly before 10pm on September 25, 2021.

Procurator fiscal depute Laura Martin said: “Police had been to assist the accused on Fountainwell Road as he appeared intoxicated.

“On doing so, he became confrontational. He clenched his left fist and swung it towards a male officer’s head.

“Contact was stopped due to the police officer’s reaction.

“The accused then lunged towards another officer in an effort to bite her to the face. There were no injuries sustained. The accused was cautioned and charged and made no reply.”

Matvejev’s lawyer said: “He had been out with friends and had too much to drink. He expresses regret.

“There is a positive report. It recommends no involvement with supervision. He works six days a week.”

Sheriff Allan Findlay said: “Do some unpaid work for the benefit of the community. Don’t do it and you'll be brought back, and I’ll deal with you different.”

Matvejev, of Sighthill, was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
